My first time to AC will be 2/23 thru 3/5.
I understand there is a carnival going on? Anyone have any specifics (or stories) about the carnival. Is it like Mardi Gras? Will beads make me any friends? :^)

PREPARE TO BE PAINTED!!!

LOL.....Carnival is not like Mardi Gras as we know it New Orleans style.
It's a lot tamer.....with a lot more CLEAN fun....LOL

There is of course....music, food and our own small version of what they call a parade....firetruck with big noisy horn included!

The kids here....and some adults as well....mix up latex paint with water in all colors.....and they paint each other.....ALL OVER. Some throw in a few raw eggs for good measure. It's all clean fun.....but I choose to stay indoors.....can't imagine that paint is good for your hair.....LOL
Besides, I hate the smell of raw eggs!

They are very good about not painting the tourists unless the tourists choose to participate. They also are not allowed to paint buildings and houses....occaisionally a little of the paint goes astray....but all in all it's a fun time and nobody gets hurt.

Enjoy!!!

If your gonna participate....maybe you should bring one of those high powered water guns....LOL....you will definately have the advantage! [Linked Image]

Well, last year there was a band in the park and lots of Belikan. There are some community groups that do traditional dances; and a group of business men dressed in drag that were pretty darn, er well "pretty"! Then the "parade" began which was a big snake of children of ALL ages complete with blaring sirens from the one fire engine and big blaring boom boxes. But, mostly it was the painting of people and tossing of eggs. It was a blast! Definately wear old clothes. I found that the paint and eggs in my hair cleaned up quite nicely with a late night swim off a dock. It's good clean fun with a pretty strong dose of alcohol thrown in by many. So, join if you dare!! Wish I was there.
