I'm looking for the cheapest way to keep track of the kids back home.

Phone card in BZ, or Phone card in US & have them call me in BZ ??

I'm assuming that you're emailing from home. I could be wrong. Are the kids staying with relatives? Do they have a computer and internet access? I do know there are two internet bars with services for a low cost. You could meet in the Belize chat room in the evening and "talk" in real time, or leave messages back and forth on the board. Might be fun for the kids. (although I don't know how old they are) That's what we plan to do when we come down in June. No kids this time. I've heard making phone calls from Belize to the States is astronomical.

Kids are home (this time)! Oldest is a sophomore at U of I. E-mail is her second language. I'll certainly look into e-mail from SP. We took the kids 2 yrs ago & called home on my ATT card. BAD IDEA! What a bill I had when we got back. That's why I'm looking at alternatives this time.

Prepaid international MCI cards work well--but be careful you've found out the access code and directions for calling FROM Belize before you leave home.

I use Telus, yes, Canadian. I called from Houston and when I first arrived in Belize, after that, I used Email.
