someone suggested buying trinkets/candy to hand out to the children. I am going to buy the stuff soon- could you be more specific? What kids of small toys should I get?
hey heidi, that would be me! i am a mom of 2 preschoolers. i recently sent a package to the kids of the plumber who helped me out on my vacation. i sent things like:
crayons smarties (candy that wont melt) lollipops or gummies play make-up/nail polish fun bandaids, like barbie, dragons, neon designs toy jewelry hot wheels cars stickers pokemon cards candy necklaces ringpops bubbles
...you get the idea. none of these things cost very much. but they would be luxuries to any of these kids. i am glad my idea tickled you. just wait until you see their faces!!!
hi chloe. i sent it by usps. here's the catch: by ground, the package may take 8 weeks to arrive to its destination, maybe more (said the postal clerk). so, i sent it air mail. this small package of trinkets, weighing maybe 2 pounds, cost me $36 to post! the stuff inside was only worth about $10!!! i thought it was worth it, and i hope those kids got a charge out of it. havent yet received a reply.
Next question, when they go to pickup the box, the box is opened and the receiver has to pay the duty on the items inside, before the box is released to the receiver, right?
i dont know. maybe jesse or marty would, or bill. wouldnt tammy know?? i had to fill out a declaration form, claimed $2 candy, $8 toys. i hadn't thought of that.
