While tremors are occasionally felt in Belize, I don't believe there ever has been a major earthquake in Belize, at least not in modern times. Belize is not in the same terremoto belt that plagues Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, etc.
Amen to that. The recent earthquake was along the western coast of central America, where the Pacific plate meets the Central American plate and dives under it along a collisional continental margin. Belize instead is along a passive continental margin, where the last earthquakes were several million years ago. No earthquakes, no volcanos.
