When I got to the Belize City airport and heard that the cabbies wanted $17.50 US for a cab into town, I headed out to the highway and got a bus for $1.25. Oddly, when the trip was over, my ride back only cost 75 cents US.

It's only a half hour walk from the airport to the highway and that is like earning $35 per hour tax-free. Plus, I like to walk and I travel light, and the people who flew in with me were still milling around the carousel in hopes that the monsters they call suitcases show up. I sure didn't want to hang around to see if any of those people would like to share a cab.

It's a great way to save some money and see Belize from the beginning.

For those who are not familiar with Belize, you might want to note that you mean the international airport in Ladyville. The airport in Belize City is the municipal airport.
