I have a choice between two tours:
(1) Caracol and Mt. Pine (one day)
or
(2) either Xunantunich, Cahal Pech, El Pilar combined with ChaChem Cave.
I'm not too sure what the difference between each ruin is, but I heard that Caracol/Mt Pine was like North Dakota and not a good representation of the Mayan Civilization. I'm also interested in the surrounding beauty of the ruins.

I would strongly recommend 2 Xuntantunich and Che Chem Ha Cave instead of Caracol. Caracol is not extensively excavated, and getting there is a very rough time-consuming excursion that takes most of the day. Its not worth it.
Xunantunich was breathtakingly beautiful, interesting and excavated a lot.
Che Chem Ha cave was also a great trip.
We were in San Ignacio in January and by far, the very very best part of our whole trip was going to a mayan ceremonial cave with Mayawalk (Across from Eva's) The incredible Mayan artifacts and cave itself took our breath away and was an incredible Indiana Jones type of experience that we will remember for the rest of our lives. The cave is called Tunichal and Aaron Juan is the guide.
