Sorry, it's almost over before I send my wishes. I'm not exactly sure what Boxing Day is, but any use for a celebration--holiday-- works for me.

Just celebrated Boxing Day in the US fashion. Set out the trash, and stacked about 15 empty boxes beside the can. 23 days and counting (and recounting, and recounting).

Boxing day was originally a British Holliday where it is also known as St. Steven's Day. The original origins are somewhat unknown, but it is generally believed to be a day when gifts were "boxed" and given the the less fortunate on the day after Christmas. Bobber,you are right. One of the misconceptions about the origin, is it is the day when all the boxes are put out after Christmas.

I had someone from Texas tell me there is a Boxing Day observed, by their state. They just had the holiday from work.

Hmmmmmmm... They told me to look into it and see why I didn't have it off. I mentioned that we don't have that day off in NY.
