I need some help from all you beach travelers! As most of you on the board know, I totally LOVE Belize and would probably vaca there 24/7 if possible. HOWEVER... Dan wants to go somewhere new. He wants Costa Rica, I don't.
If I can't go to Belize I want to go somewhere I can be totally pampered! (trust me I DO deserve it) ;-)
Ya know, food & bev service at the pool, on the beach, in the hammock. I am pretty sick of Hawaii & Mexico. Tahiti/Bora Bora really only have just 1br places and we need 2/3 for our "little ones" lol. I want at least a 4 star by USA standards, penthouse kinda place. Pool, white sand, swimable beach, with palms everywhere!
OH... it would help if I told you this is for Oct. since I want good weather too. lol I ain't askin for much here am I. ;-)
Any suggestions???
Paaleese...
Dang... I'd rather go to Belize!!!

Turks and Caicos, if I did not fall in love with Belize that would be my choice. They have Allegro and Beaches, not much to do have not been there for 2 years, but they were building. No Mickey Dees as of yet. Snorkeling and Diving(from what I have heard) very beautiful. I can vouch for the snorkeling much nicer than Belize. I do not mean nicer in a bad way. The beaches is long and beautiful. Not many restuarant, everything is pretty well all-inclusive.
That would be my choice.

Well - I too would love to vacation in Belize 24/7 but much the same as you - my husband wants to see Costa Rica this year so we are off to see it Nov. 1st.

This I can tell you - there ARE all inclusives in the Pacific Northwest. Allegro has a spot there - There are such beautiful spots there - if you do end up there - I bet you'll enjoy it.

Thanks bunches Jackie and Bonnie!
It really doesn't have to be an all inclusive place. I just don't want to go "touring" a bunch and I want a VERY nice hotel/resort/condo. Where the kids could also meet others and not have to hang with a bunch of adults. Don't get me wrong, they learn a lot hanging with adults ;-), but we all just need a calm fun relaxing vaca.

Denverdan,
Not much tourist spots on Turks. Alot of hotely things to do with the kids at the resorts, though. Calm, fun and relaxing that it is.

Hope,

Take a gander at this great little hotel in Grenada. I think you'll find it's pretty nice. http://www.mariposaresort.com/english.htm

or how about this one... http://www.flamboyant.com/

or this one may appeal to you... http://www.wiol.com/grenada/Blue-Horizons/more.html

Or if you want a swim up pool and a super beach this may be it... http://www.coyaba.com/

But if you want pampered luxury, this would qualify... http://www.spicebeachresort.com/

And this one has 2 pools with a waterfall in one pool, and in the center of the best beach in Grenada... http://grandbeach.net/

For an excellent net on Grenada with all the answers, try this... http://grenadaexplorer.com/Homepageeng.htm

Good hunting,

Jim

as you also know, frank will not be visiting belize anytime soon either. we are gonna take a total tropical break and maybe look at british columbia (vancouver area)with the kids.

jim, all those are pretty nice, but none have 2 or 3 br suites with kitchens. that's what we family folk need.

hopie, look into condos where ever you decide.

Gee Jane, I do happen to know that Flamboyant has 2 bedroom suites, also Blue Horizons and Grand Beach resort. Most of the hotels also have adjoining rooms such as Coyaba, and Spice Island Resort. And I have been to them, every one.

Send some e-mails Hope and negotiate price. Internet requests usually get a decent discount especially in the off-season. Ask about adjoining suites.

Jim

Actually I don't even want to see a kitchen on this trip! Even though Dan is the cook in our house... I get to clean up, and I don't want to that on this vaca.
Geeze Jim, now what am I gonna do? Toooo many choices AND I have to change Dans mind again. lol
Very cool places and I thank you again! I'm gonna have to spend some time on this...
About negotiating the price though... I tried that in Costa Rica when we were gonna go last year and people either ignored me or were rude. I don't think I can do that again. ;-)
Still lookin!
Many thanks.

Hope, When you contact the resort, make it clear that you are not using the services of an agent on this trip. You should get a discount in the 15% to 20% range.

If they don't answer, they lose. If they do answer and are rude, they lose. You have nothing to lose. You don't have to pay rack rates.

Good luck,
Jim
