Our son Chris 22(red hair) arrived at the Belize airport on Mar. 31 (Sunday) where he was to meet his sister 19(Natasha) who was coming from Nicaragua and they were to backpack together in Belize, Guatamala and on towards Costa Rica. They were going to find accommodations after they met. They had strict instructions to phone or email us as soon as they got together so we could quit worrying. They are good kids but we haven't heard and we are very worried. We need to know if it is very hard to have the use of a phone or computer. Could they have gone swimming or hiking and run into trouble with noone around to see what happened? We also need to know where to begin looking for them. Thanks in advance for any advice.

It should not have been a problem getting to a phone or cyber-cafe in BZ City. How long were they going to stay in BZ....do you know their planned route? Finding accomodations in BZ would not be a problem either. Guatemala i know nothing about, but wouldn't go there myself. (opinion) If you don't hear from them soon, you might try emailing pics to American Embassies and gov'nt officials with your story. I know that i make those committments to my mom and dad when we go to AC, but sometimes get so rapped up in the adventure...i forget, or just let time get away from me. Have they done this before..backpacking to 3rd world countries??? You will be in our prayer's and keep us posted....Angel Blessings!!! C&R Wish i could be more help!!! You could also try emailing the "Love FM" radio station...in BZ City....they might put it out as an announcement on the radio there. Just go to the "News" section on this board!!

saw this post on caye caulker board too. have you posted on belize forum site? i think the love radio announcement idea is a good one. i have a feeling your kids are ok, just being kids, oblivious & forgetful. give them a pinch when you see them again for making you worry.

good luck.

Do you have any idea of their itinerary? Any of us that live here could help you if we knew a full name and had a piture. I personally could print something out and post it on Caye Caulker. If you contact the consulate they can have someone check the border exit logs, but that will take time. Let's hope that they are just being kids and not phoning home, and that they are safe.
