Got back from a week in the Placencia area last Wednesday. Though it's pretty beat up, the folks are no less enthusiastic about welcoming visitors back and accommodating them in the greatest sense. Time will do its work on the scenery and the people are working hard to reconstruct.
I gotta believe they are coming around. Last night I got an email from one of the establishments I had hoped to stay at and they said they would be able to accomodate us, unfortunately for us/them we changed our iteniary and will be visiting some other spots. We will get to spend 2-3 afternoons in Placencia and will include it in our trip report. Duane

YA CAN'T PUT A PRICE ON A GOOD TIME
Placencia has the best beach in Belize, hands down. I was heartbroken when we heard about Iris. Just heartbroken. I hope and wish them the best in their rebuilding. If you go, stay at the SeaSpray. Right in the village, it offers the best of a real small, family run, intimate hotel.
You might want to try Easy Living. They have great two bedroom apartments on the streetside in the center of the village. They were fairly unaffected by the hurricane.
