I've been holding off booking airfare since my house in MN still hasn't sold and I cringe to think of putting more on my credit cards. But am rapidly approaching the 'oh, screw it' time and will be booking next week. One cannot be expected to go for a whole year without their BELIZE FIX, NOW CAN THEY? IT'S NOT GOOD FOR ONE'S MIND. OR ATTITUDE. Still planning on 4/26-5/5. So yeah count me in.

We'll be in Belize April 13 until the 20th but in the Placencia area not AC. Probably quieter there but still wonderfully beautiful and relaxing. My only regret is that we don't get to personally thank many of you who have given great advice.

I AM going crazy with this damn server prob, it is a whole new system, dif acct management controls, diff email router, everything. It was SUPPOSED to be easier to set up and maintain, but I am beginning to think that we should have stuck with the old sys. In the long run the new one will be more efficient and powerful for the customers, but from the admin side IT SUCKS (was I yelling... Oops)

Ah, the Windjammer cruise. I did one of the Antilles, further north (St Maarten, Saba, Nevis, St Kitts, St Barth and 2 tiny uninhabited islands - Prickly Pear and Tintamar). It was great, even though I was seasick the whole time. Could have jumped ship in St Barth and flew back, but didn't - so fun far outweighed seasickness!

Rapier, Ada and Margie both work at Coconuts as Bartenders, by far the sweetest people you'll meet in AC. They also makes some WICKED drinks right by the water. Now that coconuts has a pool we may spend some serious time there.
Ruby..well if memory serves me she was the lady who taught me the "Punta". Her and Estelle turned me into an Oreo cookie on the dance floor.

I bought a couple of Quantun spinning rods and reels on e-bay, and they will be packed to sweet-Belize. we have old friends in Belize, and i miss them very much. You all will have such a blast on AC. Remember to bring stuff for the local kids...it really is fun to watch their faces. They are such great embassador's of this peaceful island.

Remember to buy a few ankle bracelets from the junior jewelery salespeople. They also like to have their pictures taken, they will smile and pose.

Hmmm...well...it's always cool to bring school supplies for the school..crayon's, cool pencils.

Kinda brain dead tonight..will post again when my two cells start to fire again.

I always stick some of the Golden book classics in my suitcases - you know, Gingerbread man, 3 Bears, etc., coloring books, hot wheels/matchbox vehicles--I brought some of those convertible action type figures (not the creepy kind) and had 2 little boys in heaven playing with them. I just keep my eyes open if in Target/Kmart/Walmart cuz some of this stuff goes on sale cheap and then I tuck them away til next trip. The girls also always seem to enjoy hair accessories (ponies, clips, etc), and always lipstick/matching nail polish (wet'nWild, less than $1) that I give to housekeeping at the end of my trip.

The schools are always happy to accept supplies also..pencils, paper etc....but for "personal" things......Basically anything a young child back in 1980 (or earlier) would like. Little toys, crayons, color books, paint by number etc...blow up floaties, What is your plan???? To just start giving things out???? I believe you can also set up a child to actually go to school....buy his/her supplies , maybe some clothes....some kids can't "afford" to go to school....Rick and I have a great "child" there!! He is Del Rio. Have known him since 98'...he's 15 now and I can never get that kid to go to school!!! He was 10 when we met.....we take him out to dinner and always take him a couple shirts and shorts!!! These children know how to entertain themselves...without computers/play stations etc...it's amazing to sit by the basketball courts on a weekend evening and actually SEE kids playing tag, duck duck goose, Mother May I, Red Rover etc,.....ya just don't see that here!!! But really..whatever you take will be appreciated..anf if possible..ask a parent if it's OK....it's a respect thing!!! If ya want to connect with a teacher-let Rick or I know!!!! Email us and we'll give you specifics for the 'not so fortunate children".... C

If I know I will be somewhere that has kids who don't have alot, I try and collect some happy meal toys. I eat happy meals for about a month before I go as well (now that is a sacrifice) - but kids like those things. Funny how much they appreciate such little gestures. So unlike many kids in the states.

You could go to the "dollar store" and pick up all kinds of goodies.................. C

Folks you can only imagine how excited I was to finally get to AC and meet R&C. I was alone that trip and a pretty worn out fella. They showed me all the must do's and treated me like family.

The only thing that was missing was someone to share the sunrises with me...I think I was the only american awake at that time, I did'nt want to miss a second of the ocean air.
Can't wait to get there...

This trip i plan on watching plenty of sunrises.....from wherever. I wonder if anyone does the "catamaran" thing for sunrises...i know they do for sunsets. When is the full moon in April? C

April 16th is the full moon. A sunrise catamaran would be cool. I guess you could ask.

My party crew arrives on May 3rd so sounds like we'll definitely stumble into each other at the BB bar or the Squirrels nest. We are all staying at BB too, got the Original oceanfront rooms. Right now we have 2 couples (the fun not the clingy kind) 4 single guys and a single girl going.. and maybe a few more by the time we leave.

We're not known to be quiet so shouldn't be too hard to spot! The louder ones in the group are probably Rob, Monte, Dan and Scott and the whole crew is pretty much the type to strike
up conversations with everyone they meet.

Can't wait to get down there!!!!! Gotta go freeze my ass off for three weeks in Canada first. My office isn't the best when it comes to scheduling trips, it'll be about -1 degrees (not including wind chill) when we all arrive up there this Sunday.. brrr!

What kind of camera did you buy? I bought a Kodak dx4330. So I guess both of us will be picture happy!! I cannot wait to use mine either, took a few pictures so far, but who wants to look at snow!!

Got the Canon C-30 Digital. Also purchased the underwater enclosure for when I dive. Rapier will hopefully bring his laptop to offload the pictures. I like the ability to view the pictures right after you take them.

Thanks!! I bought a canon underwater one, that I took the last two sets of pictures with. So I will take both, since I am not a diver it would make no sense to buy the housing.

Yes,I arrive on the 5th. I cannot change my reservations , I tried and it would just cost way to much. Next time I am waiting!!! I always do this, this is the third time, twice I changed on the way back.

I am not worried Becky, I just wanted to stay longer and I could get the time off work, I think. I know that I will have a great time, I dont care if I lay in a lounge chair for 2 weeks straight, I will just be there. I am sure all of our paths will cross, one day, at our second home. I think I just missed you at Christmas also.

If we don't have a "specific time/date to meet....those of you who have never met us..Rick has a "bum" left eye and wear's a black patch over it for medical reasons......no cornea, hoping reatna will keep where it is......he also has a tattoo of a toucan on his left shoulder. There's pics of us here somewhere??!! We'll be all over AC....and plan on doing an inland trip or 2 this visit!! Damn, life is just too grand!!!! Belize next month then the Ac lover's party at Lake Conroe!!! I'm feelong especially blessed right now!!! C.......can we organize plans to meet at El Divino one night when the most of us is there???? Hey Rickcheri, I'm really looking forward to meeting you both. I was at the holiday on my last trip down and we had quite an interesting conversation. They mentioned that you both were great. We also got into a discussion about first class PEE. When you get there, ask them what I'm talking about, we were all laughing so hard I literally fell off the bar stool. I think actually get to meet you both since I normally bother the people at the Crazy Canucks and then mosey up the road to see whose at the Holiday. I'll look for you both this trip. Everybody else, looking forward to meeting you and coming back with tales to tell. :rolleyes:

OK..here's the final plan for Scott and I.
Arrive the 20th..staying at Holiday's...If anyone is an early riser I'll be on the deck at sunrise on the 21st.
We move to Aquamarina...(if they respond) on the 28th...otherwise we stay at Holiday the entire time. I'm not broken up about that.
I am ready to go now...

Gosh, I have been so busy this is the first I have a chance to get back to the board! I want to thank everyone that gave me information in my posts earlier, you all are GREAT!

The 4 of us will be in AC on April 29-May 6th. We'll be staying at Casa Teresita, and look forward to doing a bit of partying!

I'll definately keep a closer eye on the board and hope we get the chance to meet some of you!

Kathy.... Here is a wonderful site for small items to take along, www.oriental.com it is also a great resource for teachers that teach the younger grades. Most all of their items are priced by the dozen and in some cases even larger quantities. For example you can get 6 dozen foam glider planes for 7.95, sure can't beat that! They carry tons of different items for toys to pencils, all of which are pretty good quality. I shop there quite a bit for the kids and grandkids!

Becky......I can only imagine, at this point!!!??? Been at Holiday many many times...good thing they don't have cameras!!! Axe-no posting of pics without my permission!!! This is going to be one fantastic trip....and I think that Rick and I should do a cookout for everyone at our place!! The inside is not done, but you can pee in the jungle behind it, and we'll cook over an open fire!!! There's that word again...pee!!?? hhmmmmm-which night???? Friday night would be good!!! Barefoot-come play "acupello" (SP?) There's only been 2, maybe 3, trips out of eleven, that we haven't done some kind of fund raising benefit for something!!! We're due one!!!! Axe-if I'm not up....wake me!!! Last 2 trips missed EVERY sunrise.......Rick sleeps late most days....I get up around 6:30-7am....or earlier. We should try the caramaran thing!!! Or HillyBoo will take us out!! And a night time boat ride under the stars is a MUST!!!!! We can take 8-10 people w/HillyBoo!!! Actually I was the one telling the pee story. I got bumped on last flight to first class and this ignorant woman was angry that people were coming up to first class to pee. She was telling the flight attendants to have the people pee back in coach. I proceeded to ask the flight attendant if first class pee was any better than coach pee. They looked a little perplexed when I asked that one. Flash forward to about 3 hours after landing and one two many mimosas and I landed at Holiday Hotel speaking about the differences in the class of pee. Don't know why it was so funny to me at the time. I know, boy I can get pretty stupid. Just like to have fun. Hope I'm invited to your shing ding. Would love to meet ya!!!!

Worked for an airline for ten years+. Actually, the 'pee lady' in first class did have it right. The theory being that they pay a whole lot extra for certain conveniences.....roomy seats, more storage, preferential seating, better food, free drinks and, yup, better access to the lavatory. Oh well! Those of us in coach are expected to trot to the back of the plane, and lets face it, that's only fair. And the waits are really never that long to fret over. That's why they close the curtains after take-off. A subtle hint to us 'cheap seat' folks to get what we pay for! Its only fair.

American Airlines leave their curtains open all of the time, since 9/11 and have never given us any problems in our personal 'duties'.
Maybe it depends on the airline?

The best was last year on Continental. From Newark to Houston, we were allowed to go to the 1st Class bathroom - because they had those damned carts in the aisle the whole time. But, when I tried to go forward to change into my shorts on the flight from Houston to Cancun, the flight attendant grabbed me and told me it was a security risk - thus us back of the plane freight (as I've overheard them calling customers) are not allowed to go forward during an int'l flight.

Considering the terrorists were on domestic flights and some were sitting in 1st class, this sounds like BS to me!

Have to admit though, when I use mileage to upgrade to 1st class (earned from making bi-weekly full fare business trips) I don't want a line of people (usually with bad aim!) hanging over me either!

Right now, the airlines are being encouraged to keep the curtain open - so the air marshalls in 1st class can see what's going on behind them???

Maybe they should just put a velvet rope up instead, kind of like those roped off VIP areas in the clubs!

The only real difference I see between first and second class pee is the alchohol content... since its free in first class its sure to be higher!!! Other than that its just as crappy a crapper as it is in the rear (ok.. that just doesn't sound right!!). No bathroom attendant or real towels or anything, first class is getting gipped!!!

Has anyone flown Air Jamaica to Belize yet mon?? I hear they give out Red Stripes and Champagne... hopefully to those of us back in coach too!

Anyways.. I just can't wait to board that flight to Belize. I have been freezing my ass up here in Toronto for work this week, and have 2 more to go. It was a hideous, nose hair freezing freaking below-freezing wind chill land from hell the first few days. I thought I'd landed in Antarctica when I got off the plane on Sunday to this frozen tundra. Its warmed up to a whopping 32 degrees now.. at least I fly home on the weekends!!!!!!

You're completely right Andrea! What ever happened to the amenities in that first class bathroom??? I did feel guilty in Biz Class when those hot nuts, then fresh baked chocolate chip cookies started to stink up the whole cabin! The galley was behind biz class, right before coach. I love American Airlines, but talk about torture!
