why does everyone want to know when everyone else is going on vacation?...

They say it is because, they want to hang out!!!Like me, I had plans to met people from the board on my last 3 trips and only met two sets of people, the last time, I walked into the meeting place and someone was there with name tags, so I was like,no way, and left.

Now I just also think that alot of people want to see what other people look like.

I said that I could not see me wearing a name tag and that SOME people just want to see what other look like. Of course not if you are not cool to me,as in my kind of person, no I will not hang out with you.

Me, personally, I am not a planner, if I run into you and you said that you were from the board, now any boarder would know me or at least ask, if I said my name was Jackie, right, right. So, I do not like to make plans, with meeting people.

Now,the first time I was down there, I talk with Pirate on the board and it just so happened that we stayed at the same hotel and we hung out and had a great time.

i think most people are insecure bafoons who haven't matured much past junior high...they can't go to the bathroom by themselves much less go to a third world country without knowing where to stay, what to eat, what not to miss, etc..also, i think there is a distinct possibility that there are a bunch of swingers around who want to know who is 'in' before they get there, and they show up to see what the others look like before they commit...?

Si, that is a good answer. I never thought of it that way. The first time I went, I was a total novice about the island, but, in time you venture out and grow. Going to Haiti when I was 17, I knew that I could pretty much go anywhere.

As much as I wouldn't mind meeting some of the boarders, trying to juggle meeting folks with activities (the reason for the trip to begin with), is just impossible. I might have one night in SP, and the Sunday BBQ - and that is the extent of my social planning. Sad, huh?

I dunno toad, seems like there are some genuine friendships that have developed on this board. They keep up those friendships - so I am thinkin' those are real.

True, some of the friendships continue, some do not, much like home. Friendships come in short medium and long. To have a friend one must first be a friend.
My mouth and attitude weeds them out quickly....oh oh oh. Just kidding, maybe.

The board is a mask for those that want it to be, others like to share there pictures and lifes and trips and real names.I for one do not care, I do not need anything to hide behind, it took me almost a year to get accepted on this board, where people would talk back to me or answer and alot still dont,cause some are in there own little clicks with agendas.

DB is also very correct alot of friendships have been formed on this board, I for one,have found a few and a few I did not,some people were just not my type, when I met them on the island.

Like Chloe said, just like home, you cannot be friends with everyone and my mouth and attitude also weeds them out.

The bottom line is we all share a common interest, that is why we are on the board, AC.However one chooses to further those relationships is on them, but one should not be condoned for getting involved as one should not be for not wanting to get involved.

I, for one am a totally different person on the island, I feel free and I am able to be the person that I like being.Whether or not I run into boarders or not. I am a very happy ACer, and if I could advise some about they trip, I will be more than happy to,if they choose to listen that is another story. At home, we are caught up in the rat race of life,so this board, is my escape when I cannot be in AC.

although i realize a vacation is good for changing your attitude and everyone goes home thinking..im can be in this mode and still be productive at work and home...and im gonna try real hard to carry it over, but they start worrying about what other people will think when they wear a t shirt and thongs to the next dinner party...screw that...

one time we had a dinner party at my house and a new friend of mines' little girl asked "is this a dress up party or can we go like toad does?"...

Many times I wondered what people were really like without their computer screens for shields. Some I have figured out from continuing posts, others still remain unknown and that is good.

When I went to AC, it was so I could say to myself, I was there. No one knew I was going and all of the communications on this board were what made me want to go.

With that done, and I saw no one, I had a nice day just seeing the island and not putting all kinds of time in with the multiple people I could have been with, although I tried. ( Right Hope?? )

I go on vacation to be away........come home refreshed and start planning my next trip.

I am not fake at home, I am just not the person that I would like to be. There are alot of personal things that have happened in the last couple of years, that make me this way. So, it is not fake, it is just that AC is my escape. I guess I deal with alot of knuckelheads daily, that I just do not bother with trying to be me, more so getting away from them.

the hairy legs i was referring to was when i was at the sushi bar near the seabreeze hotel(cant remember the name right off--something blue maybe) anyway, i wolfing down some sashimi and this chic and her significant other were eating as well, with a bag of f-ing kibbles and bits at her feet, well, after noticing the bag of dog food, some sasquatch looking legs caught my eye....this honey was HAIRY....she coulda gave a bag of bics a run for the money...also, it was thick and black....

i imagine fair skinned ladies dont have quite the same problem...

long ago, on our honeymoon in venezuela, we went out on a snorkel trip with a few other northerners. this one girl had her, well, "privates hair" all hanging out of her suit bottom so badly that you could not help but notice. frank kept referring to her as "larry" as in the 3 stooges, for that is what her crotch looked like.

tho it didnt seem to bother her, (i was embarrassed for her) it obviously offends many US men (thanks, playboy), 'cause f still talks about it. we have a pool & hot tub, and am in bikinis a lot...i always make sure i am never a "larry".
