Jose, the pizza chef formerly from Shark's Bar at the water taxi dock in San Pedro has moved to Caye Caulker and is now making his incredibly luscious pizza at Popeye's on the Beach just south of the main water taxi pier Caye Caulker. Ron, owner of Popeye's recently renovated and expanded his beachfront location to include cabanas and reopened with Jose as the new chef. So.. score 1 point for Caye Caulker. I used to take Jose's pizza as takeout (from Sharks' Bar), on the water taxi back to Caye Caulker, and now I just have to walk down the beach. Oh, simple pleasures are THE BEST!

I've not had Jose's pizza, but the best pizza I've had in Belize is at Cafe Kela in Corozal Town. Great pizza, and cheap, too.

Now there are at least two Italian-style brick pizza ovens in Belize -- besides the one at Blancaneaux there's also now one at Kanantik.

We always used to have Jose's pizza, both from Sharks and before that when he was at Jerry's Crab Shack. But for the best pizza on the island (in our view!) you have to try Pepperoni's. They are just past Playador on the opposite side of the road, are primarily take out, delivery is free and the pizza is to die for.
