Why can't I win the lottery.

It may not be the lotto, but we have some mighty fine prizes such as RT airfare for two to Belize, a weeks hotel and many more items just like these we will raffle off at the next San Pedro Social Club Patree. The odds are better also !!! Stay tuned and CHEER UP !

For all of you who would like to live in Belize I reccomend living in Florida while you wait to make your dreams come true. Good jobs, decent salaries, lots of housing at many different price points and good connections to our favorite place!
We have great water for boating and beautiful (and I mean beautiful!) beaches. I'm talking about the Gulf Coast, but I'm sure the Atlantic side has some great areas as well. Hey, it's not Belize, but you can enjoy a wonderful climate here and have a job that will help you pay for that dream. We moved here from New England and I have never regretted it. Just a suggestion!

Oh man... I've only been to Sanibel, but I really do love that place. Was considering buying on Upper Captiva when Belize came into our lives...

Being born and raised in Oregon, I think it's the green that I like. I hate the desert.

We moved to Fl from Pa in 1993. Spent five years in the Keys and now live in on SW coast. That was our dream until we discovered Belize and now we're in the processing of buying a permanent home in Placencia. Just plaster a picture of your dream on the fridge and then live, eat and sleep what you want to achieve.

I moved from belize to florida lol..I love sannibel and captiva...but my best love is siesta key...reminds me of san pedro before the buildings came....I usually stay right on the ocean on cresent beach.....heaven!

Thanks Tincup for reminding me that there is sun and sand here in these USA. We are going to SP for an extended stay this winter, but my husband has already told me "I do not want to live there".
So we are thinking about moving to Florida and continue to visit Belize. Those who live in Florida-could you tell me what you like about the area you live or if you had it to do over where you would go.

Indygal - We live on the west coast of Florida. I lived just inland from the beach by about a mile in Sarasota for 6 years, mainly for good schools for my kids and proximity to work for my husband. Recently moved further north (Bradenton)to a condo on the water with a boatslip. Sarasota waterfront is expensive, so many people end up going north or south if they want waterfront.
We plan to split our time between here and AC when my husband reaches retirement in a few years. Meanwhile we are building a house on AC so that everything will be ready when we are.
Living and working in Florida has allowed us to enjoy our hobbies of fishing and boating while still being able to hold down a real job for real wages. The salary level for professionals has made great improvements over the last 10 years. When we first tried to make the move from New England to Florida in the 80's the jobs were not there.
As far as travel to Belize goes, I can leave from Tampa at 9AM and be in Belize at 11:30AM their time (due to the time difference, via Miami). Tampa Int'l is about 45 minutes drive from here.

I am a couple of hours South of Tincup in Naples; home of the most holes of golf per capita. Lovely Gulf Coast beaches. One of only two cities in the nation that boasts of TWO Ritz-Carltons. Land of the rich & famous. Kept under wraps by the older, extemely well-to-do population who run the town with a velvet fist. I came here because I am in construction. When the market TANKED in NJ in the late '80s, moved down here. Work has been VERY good. I live a few blocks from the beach. The town itself is rather quiet. For fun, I go to Ft. Myers. Or the East Coast. Find it very convenient to fly to Belize out of Miami Int'l.

Get rid of your husband and come and live in SP-just a thought.

Actually Pedro I'm sure after he gets to know all the kind people-like you, he will gladly leave the USA for good.
My husband is happiest when he is fixing something as in physically making something that does not run, work again. He is afraid that he won't have anything to do. So save up anything that isn't working and when we get there I will send him over. His specialty is electronics, but can fix most anything.
Oh and getting rid of him is not an option, the good ones are to hard to find.

Tincup, you are so right about Florida, miles and miles of beautiful beaches. Great weather if you like lots of sunshine, climate a bit cooler than Belize with only 50 inches of rain fall a year, (like northern Belize).If you can't be in Belize, this is the place to be.

Trust me, he would have plenty to do in Belize!!! In fact we would be happy to entertain him for your entire stay. We hardly ever run out of things to repair with the salt and wind.
