It is interesting to me that there are two topics discussed here that will, in my opinion, have very devestating effects on the enviroment in Belize, both on the Rain Forest and the Marine Ecosystem. What is preplexing to me, is that there are people who are opposed to one that support the other.
I have expressed my opinions in past topics as to how I view the hypocracy of the Long Caye project as being promoted as "eco-friendly".
As far as investing in the Long Caye project, if one has no concern for how this will effect the enviroment, or if one is just naive (that is as nice a word as I could come up with for stupid) then proceed keeping in mind "caveat emperor".

Bywarren, I totally agree. In people's attempt to enjoy nature, (longcaye) we sometimes are impacting heavily on nature. Hmmmmm?

trina, you and others are so much better than me in your choice of words. "Enjoying nature" sounds so much better than "over-developing to the point of having a negitive impact on the environment with the main objective being greed and making the most money you can without regard for the environmnet."
And then having the gall to promote it as eco-friendly. And then seeing people actually falling for that BS. I guess maybe those people are the kind that could be sold time shares in Heaven.

Get a clue, People. "Jessie" is not/was not "Jessie" but one of your favorite trolls who likes to bait people into confrontational discourse.

(For those who don't know what this is about, the relevant stuff was deleted.)

Who can say,
I loved Belize much better, when most of the Belikin you bought was room temp, there were no concrete steps or a security guard at the inland Blue Hole, the Southern Highway was not paved, for that matter, there were no paving stones on San Pedro, the main telephone was near the park, there were no jet skis or para sail. Belize is getting tooooo Americanized but, : what can you do. Businessmen provide what the market wants... \:\( \:\(

The good thing about the levittown projects on tropical islands is that they always fail, and usually culminate in bankruptcy for the developer.
Therefore, the few people who actually build a home there usually end up with a pretty nice place (except for all the trees that got cut down on the vacant lots....)
Of course, most of the people who buy into levittowns usually want the levittown ambience so most of them don't build at all. People who buy into these projects usually don't want the pioneering, no-infrastructure, do-it-yourself life style that you have to be willing to live if you build on a remote island that is not being "developed."
So those of you who have bought into Long Caye, don't worry, you will have a lovely, quiet environment because most of your "neigbors" will never build anything (nor will most of the service businesses that have been promised.) Just be prepared to provide for yourselves.
