New to the message board...never been to Belize, but Jerry Jeff Walker convinced me to visit while watching him on a TV fishing show. I think I might want to have a wedding there...any opinions on the best place to do that?

However I am getting married at Portofino in january,and yes they are friends of mine but my girlfriend has decided that is the place that she wants to get married for the first and only time in her life.

Teeray - that is kind of a vague question. What are you looking for. Grand luxury or something very laid back and fun like a beach BBQ? Options abound. Give everyone some idea and you will get some good feedback

Teeray - do a search for weddings using the search button at the top of the page.
Talk to the people who have recently gotten married or are about to be married on AC. There are several on this board.
You will get reliable honest information.
At the very least... rely on the info you get from people who have personal experience.

My post means I think Clarity has been to the island(prove me wrong)and if he/she has not how can an opinion be posted.

Clarity How many other names do you have on this board?-according to membership no. only a week.

I got married on AC two years ago. There are lots of wonderful places to get married there (and I have no commercial or other interest in any business on AC). I used Iraida at www.belizeweddings.com to coordinate the minister, flowers, photog, etc. We stayed at and got married at the SunDiver (www.sundiverbeachresort.com). It was the perfect wedding. We enjoyed the hotel a lot. We were the only people there (we had 16 guests), and they were very nice. Nice pool, nice beach, great staff, etc. They are north of the cut, so you have to take a boat in to town (which was the only draw-back for me).

There are lots of hotels that offer wedding packages. Go to the lodgings section and check out Victoria House, SunDiver, Ramon's, Mata Rocks, Mata Chica, Captain Morgan's, etc. Many hotels have a wedding special on their websites.

Good luck! Feel free to ask other questions. I loved getting married on AC and would not have done it another way.

One more thing: I used this board extensively to plan activities while we were in Belize, and we weren't steered wrong once.

I don't think most of the advise you get on the board is suspect. Many of us, like Bill live on Ambergris and would of course be friends with or know most of the people who own comercial interests. I would agree with his advise about contacting Iradia Gonzales. She does and excellent job on weddings and can steer you toward places in the price ranges you might have in mind. If you are looking for a hotel to buy, check out some of the local realators. You aren't very specific about name of location, but they might know .

Where? Please send me a site that provides better information. I have never been to AC. I am coming down in a week and really had to dig for questions to ask. Everything I thought I need to know was covered.

You might start with: Sunset Realty, Sunrise Realty, Southwind or Langdon. they are all located on A.C.

I think I read most of those articles in a salon a couple of weeks ago. Great magazine. But I seriously doubt anyone from the magazine would have made themself available to answer questions for me.

EYE: I refer you to my original post which is very informative on how to/where to get married on AC. I even gave a few web addresses for the original poster. Being a former lawyer, I look at everything in the eyes of legal analysis, so I was using an "analogy" to get my point across as to why I called Clarity a troll.

I apologize, though, to teeray. This is not the forum for me to let my annoyance finally come to fruition. You will not regret getting married on AC. It was the best day of my life!

Not the city, but it did something to us too !
Truly amazing, what ever it was.

I felt just like that ice storm last night only in reverse, no ice, but the hottest day of the year.

We also had major water line breaks, nearby.
No water, No power, No work, Nothing to do !!! but once again we all survived.

Bill... salt is bad for your blood pressure and I think you have been having way too many dash's of Miss Elvi's Hot Sauce...
