Bonfire night is to commerate the burning of Lord Guy Fawkes who was burned at the post in or around 1650 -way before the U.S.A. was even thought of-his crime was that he tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament & House of Lords by placing large kegs of gunpowder in the cellars.(which are next door to one another) (the bastion of democracy unlike what GW has put in place)-he failed and the punishment was fairly swift and unforgiving-therefore in the UK every Nov. 5 we celebrate Guy Fawkes day or Bonfire night by eating roasted chestnuts and letting off loads of fireworks.
