#163565 - 05/11/04 05:08 PM Question for Dallas Texans
lmarquis Offline
Well, I cashed in some AA miles and get the next trip down to AC with my mileage, but there is one hitch: I have a 7 hour layover in Dallas. I haven't ever seen Dallas outside of the airport. Is there anyplace to go, see or do for a few hours that could eat up some of that time? Also, how far is downtown from the airport?

Thinks to do depend alot on the time you arrive and depart. Considering AA leaves sometime around noon you would arrive early morning on a sat. I will assume. 3 hour check in really leaves you around 4 hours. Downtown in either direction Dallas or FW will take about 45min each way again depending on traffic. Your best bet would be to stow up in the Admrials club, have a few snacks and bring your laptop if you want, free wireless in house.

There really should not be a 3 hour check in since the luggage will already be checked thru to BZ. I would think you could take a nice little tour. I personally LOVE Dallas! If you are a shopper, there are TONS of great places (Neiman Marcus is better than sex!!). If you like political history, you might like to go to the School Book Depository downtown. I don't know much about Fort Worth. But Dallas is a special place-- well it would be if my a**hole ex-husband wasn't there!!
There are several Dallasites on the board, I'm sure they can give some insight.
Cheerz!

I wasn't happy with Survivor, but I am now that Rupert got voted by the people.
Floozy dress shopping at N-M for the big party at Caribe....... name the time!!!!!! It will be hard to beat this years floozy dresses though. Too bad some of the attendees don't remember them!!!!!!!!
I'm on my countdown now. Leaving in 5 days-- and I have done nothing to get ready. BUT... I am going to Tallahassee Saturday for some retail therapy.
Cheerz!

Actually it was tonight's version I was refering to with Rupert, wasn't happy with Sunday either. Did I have a floozy dress this year don't remember? LOL We will all have a shopping party pre-party. We also have Neiman's in Houston just around the corner from my house or do we have to go to Dallas? Enjoy the retail therapy & think of all us poor pitiful people who will not be joining you on La Isla Bonita. BUT WILL BE THERE IN JULY!!! YEA! cool wink

If you just want someplace to go for a few hours, there is Grapevine Mills outlet mall, right next to the airport. Huge place, including large movie complex. Doubt if you want to go shopping tho on your way to Belize. The town of Grapevine is a quaint little place, and not that far from the airport. The Wilhoit (sp?) is a fun place to eat and hang out for awhile. Getting to downtown Dallas can be a challenge, murderous traffic, but if you're use to it, maybe it wouldn't bother you.

Some good ideas, thanks. Hanging out at the airport for that long is too long for me. The Grapevine place sounds okay because I was concerned about traffic to and from downtown Dallas.

Vicki, Neiman Marcus sounds great!

Take a cab to Little Pete's on Grapevine Lake. It's a 10 minute drive from DFW. Nice little restaurant and bar right on the lake. Eat lunch there, then go to downtown Grapevine and have a cocktail at Willhoites or at Tap In.

daronwood: like that lunch on the lake idea. Drinks on the lake, followed by cocktails at downtown Grapevine. Shoot, I'm not driving!

Well, Zag, not interested in that because I already own a great pair. Anyway, not coming through until August 11 in the a.m. So far, the best suggestion to me is Grapevine. Thanks ya'all!
