Has anyone stayed here. Were you pleased.Planning trip May 13th. Hoping to see whale sharks. Anyone seen any lately? Any advice? Thanks.

I have only gone to the restaurant. But it's all one building. A giant mansion type thing. The food there in the restaurant was by far, the best meal in Placencia, when we were there three years ago. The whole deal is run by a family...three generations. Very friendly and sweet; I seem to remember the grandma was the cook...awesome! Anyway, the guest house seemed nice, clean and well run, although we didn't actually stay there. From what we heard then, they were moving the biz to an island to run it as a resort; not sure what they planned for the Placencia place. But I'm not up on recent developments....Lan Sluder would probably know the rest. The Guesthouse in Placencia faces the water, but is about one city block off the water, rather than on the water.

I was there just last month.We didnt stay but had several meals there.It quite nice and in good shape after Iris. Still the same friendly folks as ever.

Stayed there in June 2000. Very nice,good food.
Liked the communal style meals! Friendly folks too. We met a young man named Roy Garbutt that ran a palapa bar next door that closed his place down and went to Punta Gorda with us. He ended up being our psuedo guide for a couple days.Got in to see a Shrimp farm in the middle of the jungle, also steered us clear of the less desirable beer joints in PG!You might check on him for us if you get there.
