Anyone want to hazard a guess on how many expats are in residence (as official residents, perpetual tourists or otherwise) on Ambergris Caye?

I have gotten various estimates but figures are all over the ballpark.

Tough question! Lots of people come and go with some regularity and it seems like there are new gringos everywhere but its very hard to say how many live here. Could be 300 or maybe 1000...
