OK, this has absolutely nothing to do with Belize... and sorry if I ummm am getting off topic here... but

I just turned on the TV. The Guiding Light was on. A man and woman were in a restaurant talking about a friend of theirs who was in the hospital and in need of a liver. The woman in the restaurant says to the man: "Poor Andrea... she needs a liver. I volunteered to donate my liver but the hospital ran test and I am not compatable"

Ummm... granted I am medicately challenged, but don't you need your liver?

I think this would be better posted over at Belize Forums. It would be dealt with properly there.

On the other hand, it is good to know that the private message feature also works here at ambergriscaye.com.

wink

Oh and for Denny (just staying on topic and all)

"The special characteristics of the human liver make living donation unique. While each of us has only one liver, it is a large, segmented organ that regenerates, allowing a surgeon to remove a portion yet have both the recipient and donor with complete livers within a matter of a few months.

Living donation has important advantages over cadaveric donation:

The waiting time for a transplant recipient can be significantly reduced.

The procedure can be scheduled at a time convenient for both the donor and recipient.

The quality of the donated organ tends to be superior to cadaveric organs.

The time between procurement of the organ and transplantation to the recipient is minimized.

While all of these things have proven valuable for living kidney donation, research has not yet clearly shown the advantages of living liver donation over cadaveric donation. Moreover, the surgery is more complex, bringing greater risk to the donor and recipient. However, graft and patient survival rates are very good. Graft (donated organ) survival results for living donors alone are not available, but results combined with cadaveric donations are:

etc. etc."

Well... I'll be... I never knew that, honestly...wow, I'm very glad I ummm went off topic...

and I want to personally thank Jesse for moving my question to my own thread. But now I am really confused. If I have a question pertaining to... oh I don't know...like failing memory... do I write about it here in this thread? Is this the new Medical Thread? or do I write it in the "other" thread?

Plus Havenfun talked about his dog's ingrown toenail and that stayed in the other thread... how come he didn't get his own thread? I need my medicines. eek

I knew you would become famous one day! Your own board!!! laugh

Do you often watch Guiding Light?
I was home sick a couple of weeks ago and was aggrivated that with ALL the channels (cable) there was nothing worth while to watch. This happens at night as well but we don't watch much TV at night.

HavinFun I was going to inform Denny of your non-male status......but didn't.

Have you made your reservations for Cloisters? I guess you saw the questions I had here about it - couldn't get any info till it was too late. I think we may check the place out next trip....
