Hi all,
Has anybody driven from Belize to California?
I am considering purchasing a vehicle in Belize and driving home.
Any thoughts are appreciated. As long as they have something to do with the topic.

That's an unusual circumstance. Generally vehicles are considerably more valuable in Belize than US as they have had a sizeable duty paid on them when entering Belize. Many people have driven from US to Belize.

Yes, I realize that. It might not make sense but I'm toying with the idea. I want a small 4x4 that is diesel powered, manual trans, etc. We don't have anything like that in the U.S. so I'm looking elsewhere.
I have some property in the Stann Creek district so we come down there from time to time.
Thanks for the reply and I am still open to further thoughts/ideas.

Easy trip.

Done it before. But returned the vehicle to Belize.

No idea on US Customs and California DOT red tape.

I think that it is going to depend alot on the make and model of the vehicle. If you are trying to import something that is not currently available in the US (IE was not built specifically for the US market), you might run into some problems.

Try this:

Don't think this will work. We looked into this once before because we wanted one of the diesels also.
Our state Florida will allow you to come for a visit but you can not register it here because these vehicles do not meet the EPA emmissions
