I just know I am opening a can of worms here, but that's never stopped me before. I'm saying right off the bat I am NOT attacking anyone with this posting. I would however appreciate some guidance if you will.

I suppose I could just ask Ernie this question as well... but just felt like opening it up for discussion. I recently read or someone told me about the SP Lions Club raising and donating $20,000 to the Tsunami Funds. This certainly is commendable on their part. God knows the people affected by this disaster needs help.

However, this also raises my curiosity just a bit. Has the SP Lions Club donated anything towards their own children on the caye? And I am speaking specifically about the efforts of the SPSC in it's efforts to raise funds for the school...

I may possibly be missing something here and if I am I would like to hear the Lions Club speak up... and of course take me to task for mentioning it.

Denny, they really have done a lot for the community including the pickney. The Rotary likewise, mostly in the mainland.

I'm not a Lion, but I can get you more details regarding what all they've done.

I know they sell good BBQ?

It sounds like a great reason for the local community to support the SPSC's efforts to pick up the slack for the kids who don't have a noon meal to go home to, or the money to buy something nutritious in town near the school yard.

I agree Jesse... some traditions shouldn't end... that one tradition was an important one.

The San Pedro Lions contribute much, often unseen ways. We donated sand for the Elementary school playground, I believe it was the Seven Day Adventist School. This done for disease control and so the children can play in the rainy season. Free periodic dental clinics and eye exams. Much on an ongoing basis. We provide food for needy families and even cash assistance. We do not, however, provide lunches for the children. That would be a wonderful and worthy project.

Bill, For over two years I have waited for you to profess "some" support for our effort to feed the
kid's a balanced lunch at no cost. I can now rest in blissful splendor. Due to your post, my faith has been restored in mankind. I had better stop before the tears start flowing. smile
