My theory is, when you're number's up, it's up. I don't want to quit smoking and I'll be damned if I'll be forced to, by any government. Perhaps if I was going to some "dream" place like Belize, and the government said I could not go there if I smoked, I would consider quitting.
But when my own government says, "If you want to smoke, go stand outside in minus 30 degrees and smoke, and don't think of getting in your logo-ed truck and doing it cuz we'll nail ya there too..." I just become more resentful and rebellious. But I won't pay the $5000 fine. So they'd seize my house etc...
And Jeff&Con, about 65% to 75% of our bar patrons smoke. And that is likely province-wide statistics.
The legions applied to the Ontario government for exemptions, pleading that the fellows that made/kept this country free should be permitted to smoke in the legions. Plus it would have given the legions a much needed business shot in the arm. But even they were denied. And they are classified as "private clubs".
So when my number is up, I'll be gone no matter what, 50 years old or 87. So will smokers go to hell, or is heaven defined by a place you can do what/where you want...
