I'm cooking a turkey in my Suzy Homemaker oven today. Stuffing heavy on the sage, fresh broccoli and baby carrots tossed in a jalapeno olive oil fusion. Garlic mashed potatoes with jackets on! Smother the whole thing with dark rich giblet gravy...

Soon the house will smell terrific. Tiramisu for dessert.

We'll eat at five after a few glasses of white. I know this is cold weather food, but you're ALL invited.

Be sure to bring the princess, Bobber.

PattiCake, I just changed my email contact info because the other addy was becoming a spam dump. Try again and I should get it.

Nope, not Port or South. I'm between Kincardine and Tiverton, right on the lake. It's a beauty day in my neighborhood, how about yours?

Patti, sorry did not see your email. How would I have known it was from you? Give me a clue.

What is your special celebration today, with that great meal, or do you cook like that every Sunday?

I live north of Matamoros Mexico which is just across the Rio Grande river at Brownsville, Tx 10 miles and west of South Padre Island, Tx 25 miles.
Next best place to be if not in Belize, must be 92 degrees here today.

Chloe, I emailed Hon as she is a neighbour. But I'd be glad to see you at the table tonight (and send you an email)! Hon lives not far from me and I was asking her where SHE is!

This is my first Sunday off in many months so I just thought I'd get my two teenaged boys out of the fridge for an hour or two.

Green bean casserole is the exclusive territory of NYGal... she hasn't shown up yet... she'll miss the first round of vino...

Maybe next time... Cheers Gail

DB, you are fussy! But be happy, it's the original old-fashioned tiramisu with lots of chocolate, coffee, mascarpone cheese (so good but so short shelf life) and whipped cream. We'll pass the raspberries for those who like them.
You can make any request you want from my "virtual" wine cellar DB and we'll make this meal even more online. A wine for every course, of course.

Gail, I think that's a bang-up idea to have a Canuck meeting, send a cheque to the SPSC. And invite the Yanks too! Toronto would be a good spot. In the spring I think I will open my chip wagon again so my time will be very tight but I will make it happen!

Chloe, just north of where HON lives are two towns, Port Elgin and Southampton, hence Port and South as they are called locally. Funny mistakes, eh?

Chloe, you are a founding member of the SP-ASC, and we rely on your continued wisdom smile I was thinking of forming a Tabouli Club as well. While I was googling Tabouli, I did run across a a few recipes that didn't sound half bad. I don't mind the wheat and tomatoes, so who knows, maybe I would like the taste. Tried to imagine the mint, but maybe it isn't that noticeable. I am no good in a kitchen, so hopefully I can try it when out somewhere.

Sorry I didn't make it to dinner, had to work, and since I am up early tomorrow, I couldn't even enjoy the vino.

Tabouli Chicken Casserole #39438

This takes the classic Egyptian salad tabouli and turns it into a main course meal.
1 cut up broiler-fryer chicken
2 (6 ounces) cans marinated artichoke hearts, drained
1 (15 ounces) can chickpeas, drained
1 (15 ounces) can chopped tomatoes or crushed tomatoes
or diced tomatoes
3 medium carrots, coarsely grated
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/4 cup white wine
1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
1 cup bulgur wheat
1 tablespoon finely grated lemon, rind of
2 tablespoons cornstarch
4 tablespoons cold water
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1/4 cup chopped fresh cucumbers

1. Grease a large casserole dish and place the artichokes, chickpeas,
tomatoes, carrots, chicken broth, wine, mint, garlic, bulgur wheat
and lemon peel in the dish.
2. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth.
Add the cornstarch mixture to the vegetable mixture, stirring well.
3. Place chicken on top or the vegetable mixture.
4. Bake, covered, in a 350 F oven for 45 minutes.
5. Remove cover and bake an additional 15 minutes or until fork can be inserted into chicken with ease.
6. Remove from oven and sprinkle with parsley and cucumbers.

4-6 servings

I would probably eat this, but the cukes are suspect. Wonder if some Marie Sharp's would work? Doesn't this look easy? I couldn't do it, disaster.

Dob, must admit, I use the box mix. Casbash out of Melville, NY. I just add boiling water and chopped fresh tomatoes. OOPS also add olive oil.

Can be found in health food section.
Tabouli Club only if Bill is still Prez.

True, the mint must blend in, not pungent. Love the lemon tho.

Took you longer to type that recipe, than it does me to empty the box.

Tomorrow's breakfast is fresh trout and for those non-fish folk we'll make Eggs Houssard (marchand de vin sauce by the gallon in MY freezer)... and for the sweeties it'll be peach pancakes with creme fraiche and birch syrup.

I'm looking for volunteers for an expedition to the fish-out pond early in the a.m... this time of year we fish with kernel corn from the can.

I am a girl. And more than that, I am a precious girl. Actually I am a woman, not a girl wannabe, who loves to wear skirts. I am a very happy to be hetero girl/woman/WOMAN.

I am from Montreal (somewhat like SF) where any sexuality has been accepted since the early 70's (sorry but I not only recall the seventies but was ... well, in school then.)

I would never want to offend anyone on this board, and am not offended by them. But the anonymity is sometimes confusing and I would like no one less than I... Hell guys, it's been a horrid time for me and I've enjoyed your company immensely. Nothing would change.

Everclear is, in that case, something we called in Quebec allcool, grain(al-coo-hol) extra proof. At Carnivale we mix it with red wine and called it Carry-boo!!! Killer!

Still is a big drink, carried in hollow canes at Quebec City Carnivale (pre-Lenten, is that why the western world is depressed right now?) Dreadful stuff. Dead for daze..

So both you devils, DB and KLC are both fellas?????????? How pleasant.

Wanna, sorry but figured you for a ... PARTY girl! Yeah! Party on girl!

Yeah, everclear can be dreadful, and lethel. We've had alot of kids die from drinking it. Some states won't even allow the sale of it. I'm not a big drinker, so the attraction isn't there for me.

A final Good Journey to klc before I turn in. Safe trip dude.

This is hilarious as I thought when I set up this thread (I am really, REALLY new to the Internet) that it would sit there (embarassingly) for days and then fade into oblivion.

Instead I have enjoyed myself immensely. Since going into the wine cellar and seeing the terrible mess, I have learned forgiveness.

Also reading the handwritten yellow comments in the snow on my front lawn about the Bush administration (non-specific as to which Bush but to me it looked like a hydrangrea) I figured one of you two was a fella.

I remember a high profile yellow snow controversy during the Nixon administration. During a winter 1973 weekend at the Camp David retreat, Nixon was walking alone and came upon a snowbank where there was a message scrawled in the snow that read "Nixon sucks." Outraged, Nixon dispatched his minions to discover the source. The analysis came back that it was Henry Kissinger's "ink" and Pat Nixon's handwriting.
