Hey there,
I am thinking about doing a trekking trip for roughly three weeks. When I was looking at Central and South American countries, I came across Belize. Some quick internet research suggests that there are plenty of National Parks and sights to see.
So I was wondering if it might be possible to hike from Belize's border with Guatemala all the way out to the coast. I haven't been able to find any info on that long of a hike through Belize (camping, trails maps, etc.).
Does anyone have any comments on a project like this, or has anyone done this or tried to do this in Belize?
Thanks for you suggestions.

The answer to your vague question is yes for some, no for others, depending on the route you take.

If you are referring to the kind of trekking like Nepal or other places where there are established routes and places to stay along them, the answer is that Belize has nothing.
I've trekked some pretty intense trails, but frankly would not for any reason go off on my own to do hikig/primitive camping in Belize. There are some very dangerous critters out there - fer-de-lance for one.
I'd suggest that you contact Ian Anderson's Adventure Camp and sign on for one of his "Bad Ass" adventures - you will see more, do more and be safe all at the same time. Costs are very moderate and the training of the staff is incredible. You will have a more private experience than traditional "trekking" locations, and all in all will probably have the experience of a lifetime.

Hey all,
thanks for the feedback, Diane. I have heard about Ian Anderson, actually he was in a show about Belize on TV the other day. Do you have any experiences with one of his tours, or do you know of anyone who does?
