Do not know anything about Tradewinds but stayed at Rum Point and Loved it.Clean well run good food, great freindly service, right on the beach .

stayed at Parrots nest for a few days about 4 yrs ago. New owners since then. Off the beaten path, cheap, clean & basic. Nice setting on the River. Go for the treehouse if it's available.

If you are not comfortable in basic, no frills sleeping/shower facilitie (assuming no major upgrades in past 4 years) you should be OK. It appeals a lot to the backpacker crowd.

Tradewinds in Placencia is very nice. They are cabanas right on the beach at the point so it's quiet and reasonably priced.

If you want a beachfront cottage but don’t want to pay the higher prices north of the village, Tradewinds is your best bet. The seven pastel-colored cabins on the beach at the south end of Placencia village are cute as a bug’s ear. There are two cute tree houses, plus four cabins, all with outside facilities near the Mopan River. “High adventure at low prices” is the motto here. Most people who stay here really like it. New management has improved the operation. Rates around US$40 double year-round. Meals are also available.
