we'll be in ambergris caye at the end of february and want to take a trip to caulker for two days and a night. we're not daring enough to do a shared bath hostel yet but every place we contacted with a room and private bath wants a two night reservation. does anyone have any experience with booking one night when we get there rather than try for advance reservations? will anything be available?

There are now about 60 hotels on Caye Caulker, and you surely can find a room for the night. Just take the water taxi over in the morning, and wander around until you find a place you like. Popular, good-value places like Trends Beachfront and Treetops will be full of course.

Call popeyes and for approx 65usd -and you will(if you mention my name,Peter) get a one nightbooking with cc -rooms are new with ensuite and in centre of village on the beach.

Lan is also correct in saying that you will always find a room.

thank you all. as usual the board has come back and given me the info i need. lee - one of the reasons i'm stopping off in caulker is to visit your shop, so i'll take you up on your offer. be prepared though ... i'll be looking for some suggestions on eating, snorking, barring, etc. can you arrange for shipping purchases back to the us and do you take credit cards? thanks again everyone.

There is someone called Big George (cuz he's big) who owns Motel 1788 near the split. His website is http://www.cybercayecaulker.com/motel1788.htm
That is the only George I know of on Caye Caulker.

hey capt jeff. you've given me some good advice on fishing, drinking and eating but hershey kisses with almonds?? by the time i get to cc from nj they would be one giant glob of sweet stuff from the heat, no? unless i pack them in ice. no, that wouldn't work, i'd use the ice for a drink and then eat all the candies. by the by. i took your advice on capt bicho and have booked a day out on 2/24. bill b.
