They are nearly positive that there is enough oil in belize to produce 1000 to 5000 barrels a day. If true, full scale production could begin in 2 years.

Is this a good/bad thing for Belize?

Depends what happens to the revenues. If wisely reinvested into the Belize economy,I would say that it would be a very good thing, guess we are going to have to wait and see.

The factor to be considered is how many wells will be required to be punched to get that production. If the whole country has that capacity and you have to drop hundreds of wells across Belize to reach those goals it simply becomes unafordable from the setup standpoint. If they have specific areas that can produce those numbers through a handfull of wells then it might make $ense. If I understand correctly don't all mineral rights here belong to the GOB?

cheers!

It will be interesting to see where the money is to come from for this venture. There have been companies that have researched this in the past and it was determined by those companies that were putting their own money into this that it was not feasable.

Either the technology has advanced to show potential in Belize, or this is another "company" that seeks outside investors and has no financial exposure of their own.

And how much will it cost the tourism industry the first time a ship runs aground and spills a half million gallons?

Yall ever had to clean oil off of a few thousand seagulls? It's a pain, but probably easier than cleaning it off the crocs.

Balls of it on the beach gettin all ova ya shoes, in ya hair.

You local folk, do whatever you can to avoid it. Money ain't everything.

How can you tell what it used to be when there's nothing left to see? (yes, it's plagarism)
