We'll be coming to your island in July and while we do like kids, we would prefer to stay at a hotel where it's relatively kid free (less stress and more peaceful). We would like it on the beach and near(not in)town. You guys/gals all seem to know what's going on, I like the cabanna idea, any recommendations?

The condotels and suites places (like Banyan Bay, Xanadu, Belizean Shores and similar) tend to attract more families, especially in the summer. You might look at "full service" resorts such as Victoria House, Portofino, Mata Chica and similar). None of the properties on the island is really huge -- the largest ones are under 80 rooms -- so herds of kids are not really a major factor at any of them.

Mata Chica is further north, but does not allow kids under 12. Think its the only hotel on the island with that policy.

The Sunbreeze Hotel. Great pool, close to town, right next to the airstrip, not many kids, nice rooms but no cabanas.

I have rarely seen kids at Exotic Caye Beach Resort. Go to www.belizeisfun.com.

I may be wrong here, but a friend that was on a cruise ship, said they were taken to Exotic Caye Beach Resort for a day trip off the ship.

Unfortunately Chloe OWO you are correct. Stayed there in Feb & was shocked to see the Beach area near Crazy Canucks set up for the Cruisers. Luckily I was getting on Tulu's boat for the day & was not there. Will be back there in 7 sleeps as I won the week there through the SPSC raffle. Will avoid the cruise ship visitors. smile
