I am interested in reserving 1 or 2 nights in Belize City for my daughter and her fiance. I was interested in Great House thanks to this board. Can anyone tell me about the snorkel trip they offer? Where does it go and is it worth the $95? Can I get a better rate than the online price for Great House - they will be staying there June 19th/20th. Thanks to this board! I reserved my wedding/honeymoon in Belize from your advice!

Belize City is a dump and I would recommend you to book a couple of nights here on Ambergris

Any suggestions on hotel? One that doesn't have a 3 night minimum and isn't real expensive? They are staying with us for our wedding at Mopan River Resort until Saturday. After that, we'd like to be alone on our honeymoon and are staying at Xanadu. My daughter really wants to snorkel - she's never been. Thanks.

Try Colton House. www.coltonhouse.com Biltmore would also be an option. Or they could possibly go over to Caye Caulker for a night or 2, if you don't want to run into them on AC.

I agree, Colton House, if you must stay in BC

Colton House is very close to being sold, I'm told. It will be turned into a private home and no longer a guest house. Our loss.

The Great House, next door, is wonderful. I doubt you can do much better than Us$95.

Another sweet guest house 2.5 miles up the road and away from the city is Villa Boscardi. It would make sense to book them into Belize City for snorkeling, diving, caving, ruins, Museum, birding, gambling. But if they only want to snorkel and have sand under their feet, skip the city and book them onto San Pedro for a few nights.

Thanks - I appreciate the insight. I am looking into San Pedro for them for 1 or 2 nights (2 if I can afford it for them). Does anyone know if there are certain days to go to Shark Ray Alley/Hol Chan that are relatively cruise ship tourist free or less crowded? Sunday or Tuesday?
