I'll be travelling to Belize in Sept on my honeymoon and will be spending the the first part in AC then off to the jungle. I've been looking for somewhere to stay there and have a number of different choices. So, I've come to you guys for help. Can anyone give me recommendations regarding the following places? Also feel free to suggest other hotels. I'm looking for somewhere not terribly costly for the room (maybe $100-120 per nite), transfers from Belize city, or tours.
Here's the places I've thought about:
Crystal Paradise Resort
Maruba Spa
Any help would be greatly appreciated :p

I just returned from Chaa Creek and all I can say is... WOW! There is no wondering, anymore, why they have won all of those awards. Dulpooys, next door to Chaa Creek is lovely also.

Melmak, some of the places you listed don't classify as "Jungle Lodges" (ie Maruba) If you want a "genuine" Jungle experience, I recommend "Black Rock" in Cayo.

If you want real privacy, natural beauty, a gorgeous pool, and great food, try Ek Tun.

I've stayed at maybe a dozen of the jungle lodges in Belize, including Chaa Creek, Blancaneaux, Ek'Tun, Chan Chich, Jaguar Paw and others, and have visited/toured all the lodges in Belize (I think).

My favorites, not necessarily in this order, are:

Chaa Creek
Chan Chich
Hidden Valley Inn
Lamanai Outpost

Yes, Collyk, we visited this summer and it was one of the highlights of our trip. (Since we had a marvelous trip, that's saying a lot.) Phyllis is a great hostess and a gourmet cook. The food was some of the best we've eaten anywhere in the world, despite the many obstacles she faces in getting supplies.

A very special surprise was the monkey. Phyllis is caring for an orphaned howler monkey that she hopes will eventually join the nearby troop. I loved being jumped on and groomed by the monkey. (My husband was not as entranced, but she gravitated towards where she was welcome pretty quickly.)

We rented kyaks at Ek'Tun and stopped at DuPlooy's and the botanical garden and at Chaa Creek, where Phyllis picked us up. While the other lodges looked lovely, Ek'Tun was incredibly private (except for the monkey) and special. We definitely want to return with the rest of our family.

I think that you'll have a wonderful time.
