Any feedback on the Jaguar Reef Lodge and their accommodations on Cocoplum Caye? We're planning a 10 day trip for the end of April beginning of May with seven days at these two resorts (four days at Jaguar Reef and three days on Cocoplum Caye)then three days on Ambergris Caye. Any feedback on the Perla Escondida Condominiums on Ambergris Caye. Also need some suggestions on which is best Air Transporation from Belize City to Dangripa and later from Belize City to Ambergris Caye. What is Belize Dollar as converted to US dollar? Thanks for your help

$1 US=$2 BZ. Jaguar Reef has a nice beach, usually empty as most guests go out diving all day. The staff rakes the sand every day so there is no sea grass or other debris. Can't really speak to their accommodations as I stayed next door at Hamanasi Resort.

Your main choices for transportation are Tropic Air and Maya Island Air. They cost about the same and have similar schedules. If you're planning to stay at Jaguar Reef check to see if they will pick you up at Dangriga and drive you to Hopkins (where the resort is located). Hamanasi offers this service for free.

I've stayed at Jaguar Reef two or three times and stayed one night at Cocoplum Caye in July. Jaguar Reef is very attractive (as is Hamanasi, where I've also stayed). Cocoplum is a pleasant change -- not fancy but comfortable cabins with A/C. The food was good. I think we had lobster the night I was there, and there's an open bar included in the price.

I'm not sure what's happening with Perla Escondida. It's next door to Coconuts, and I hear they're trying to do a joint thing for a casino. Somebody who lives on the island can probably tell you. The condo units there seem pretty nice, and they're just a year or so old.

I've stayed several times at Jaguar Reef (at the lodge itself and not the B & B) and twice at Perla Escondida. I have been to Coco Plum Caye prior to the construction of the cabanas but have not stayed there as yet.
Jaguar Reef is very nice except for when the wind dies and the sandflies start biting. Luckily though, it is often windy. They have a lovely open air restaurant. I really enjoy the Sittee River tour.
Perla Escondida is o.k. but would not be in my top choices for A.C. Pool is kind of small and even though the place was new at the time, pool seemed dirty. Also, the barges were still infront when I was in San Pedro in July and it can get a bit noisy in the mornings.

I have friends going to Coco Plum Caye, staying at Coco Plum Resort, to spend their honeymoon. Is there enough for one to do for 6 days? What's it near? I can't find a map of this place anywhere.

Thanks!

Coco Plum Caye is just west of the Tobacco Caye range. You can see it from Dangriga if you look due East.

Thanks Simon! I guess they'll be spending a lot of time in Dangriga.

I guess AC is pretty far from where they'll be. They're missing out!

Honeymoon - six days - enough to do? What do you think? It would be interesting to run a poll and get separate answers from men and women. LOL This really made my day.

I can't be cooped up anytime, anywhere longer than a few hours...
