Since when is Lan Sluder supposed to be concerned about the effects of his comments on Belize, tourist sector or not? I doubt even he would try to push the altruistic angle too aggressively. Lan's in the business of selling his books, and in the time honored tradition of newsrooms everywhere, "If it bleeds, it leads" What's going to attract more attention to himself, a story about a butterfly farm, or something lurid and crime related?
Frankly, Lan has marketed himself brilliantly as an expert on Belize. By relentlessly dispensing free advise, he attracts attention to his books. Whether what he writes is accurate or even fair is totally irreverent. What matters is how many books he sells, and perhaps secondary, how many comps he can get when he does visit Belize.
But what's especially amusing is the original post. It lists several unflattering revelations about "The Lan", yet claims to be a defense.
