Good point weile. There is no free lunch -- the people will all pay for it one way or another. Unemployment is double-digits in most of the E.U. and will remain that way so long as there is such a disincentive to work and the xenophobia persists as it does. As for the birth rate, another good catch -- I should have said population growth rates are near zero in Scandanavia and when coupled with their homogeneous society, it makes the socio-economic comparison with the U.S. and the rest of Europe quite hard.

Just take EDF for example. A perfect example of unions , people power, and them making the government listen. NOT the other way around. As i said, if you were raised in the usa, you have no clue about socialism unless you live in it. Why for example is the EU constantly expanding and already a larger economy than the usa ? Where to to join the EU , you cannot have the death penalty and eveyone must have universal health care. It is the usa that has no health system and murders people as a penalty
