My husband and I are staying at Jaguar Paw Resort on our first trip to Belize. Any advice or information would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Very nice place. Fancy deluxe in the middle of the jungle! Great tubing through the caves. Since you are staying on site, you can do it at the times when the cruise trippers will not be there (fortunately). Good food, nice atmosphere.

Thank you for your reply. We are really looking forward to our trip and it's good to hear that the accomodations are deluxe and the food is good. We are looking forward to the tubing. If you could answer a couple of questions, it would be very helpful. When you go tubing down the river, how do you get back? Did you do any hiking or a river trip? How were the bugs? We bought some deet. I'm really excited about seeing the lush jungle and the animals and birds. Did you go to the Belize Zoo?

Take bug spray with deet 1000000000%.
we have stayed there a couple times and it is great. you will feel so secluded in the jungle.

I had the pleasure of staying there once and had a great time. The owners are wonderful people. The rooms all have different themes and I really liked the astrological room but actully stayed in another room. The pool is really neat and very romantic. I also found the food to be very good. The staff was more than willing and ready to please you and with a smile. You will have a wonderful time.

The tubing is usually done by hiking up through the jungle for 1/2 - 1 hr and then tubing back down the river. The lodge is close to the mouth of a great cave where you end up. The zoo is nice and recommended on your way there or way back (or separate short day trip). The bugs shouldn't be too bad at this time of year but bring the Deet! They also have a zip line canopy tour now but I have not done it (yet!)

I have had customers stay there several times over the last few months. Jaguar's island sister lodge (can't remember it's name) has a lot of sand flies so take the bug spray if you day trip out there. I only experienced a few flies at Jaguar itself.

Casa - you are referring to Jaguar Reef in Hopkins, not Jaguar Paw in the jungle near the zoo.

look for the pet monkey they have there, she had just got back from a wild trip, gone missing in the jungle with would be suitors. This was back in August, maybe there's a smaller addition by now.
Tubing, take a waterproof camera, ziplock bags, small fannypack, get a guide to carry plenty of Belikins, and a waterbottle to open them with and drink when sigh.. the Belikins are gone. Try the Rum punch at the bar, while looking over all the wall decorations. A really intresting place, worth the trip.

If they tell you it won't work over satellite, they didn't try hard enough!
