Anybody out there know about the best way to go from San Salvador to Belize City by bus!

The Lonely Planet has a good off the beaten track message board with lots of info for backpackers worldwide.

San Sal-Guat City-flores-Belize City.

Just got back from El Salvadore by bus. Several first class bus lines from San Salvadore to Guatemala City are available. Don't recall the name or the price...I was traveling with the American Legion and it was a package deal with hotel, ect. About 4 hours to Guatemala City and then by bus to either Flores or Puerto Barrios via another bus. The deluxe double deck buses are comfortable and worth the extra.

just get on the bus gus, make a new plan stan....

Katie, how does one go about making connections to do this? Bill's adventure sounds very interesting, there would be so much to see.

Dunno, start with a the bus schedule in SS and work your way up. www.lineadorado.com from GC this way.

Lineadorado travels first class overnight from Flores to Guatemala City. Then a taxi to one of the chickenbus's to Antigua. Takes off at 10PM arriving around 5AM.
