Can you imagine running into this creature?
ScubaLdy, The diving expedition was organized by a scientist at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Thought you might find that interesting.

Methinks the French interest is due to the fact it probably has blond hair in its armpits (clawpits?) also.

Well, so far this lobster has defied the dumb blond stereotype.

uh, can i voice some intelligence here? ( i am only a fake streaked blonde, so i have some SMARTS!!)

IMHO, deep water creatures are often colorless as color cannot really be seen without sunlight. color is also used to attract a mate, so if it is blind, the potential mate wont see it, so why have it? also, blindness at great depth is common for the same light reasons, (unless the the creature posesses bio-lumination) it is dark, and creatures cannot see. the hairs probably work as feelers, to find food.

anyone agree or disagree? seems logical to me.

i am not an animal expert by any stretch, just years of watching pbs etc, while ex-husband was ignoring me.

i am no fun, am i?

Jane, you are more than likely very correct.

On the other hand, a "hairy lobster" is too good a straight line for most of us to pass up.

Glad to see you back.
