I have had quite the week and frankly, I'm glad it's Friday! Still, it wasn't all bad and I laughed so hard in court yesterday I though I'd share:
My client, a 17-year-old young man, had attended a party at which he attempted to impress all the young ladies by telling them he was a first-year law student. He eventually consumed so much alcohol that he became somewhat belligerent when another young man called him on the story. "Allegedly" he threw a couple of punches. The party's hosts promptly called the police and had my client removed from the premises. As fate would have it, his blood alcohol level was unusually high and law enforcement took the young man to the hospital for medical clearance. He became rather violent and had to be restrained in the hospital bed. Budding law student that he was, he immediately began to yell at the top of his lungs, "I know my rights! I demand my Roe v. Wade rights!!"
Everyone in the courtroom agreed it was the first time we'd ever heard of someone being so drunk they wanted an abortion.
