Can anyone who has been to Tobacco Caye confirm if fly fishing/catch & release is allowed from the beach? In particular, we'd be interested in bonefish, if they are around there. We love to snorkel and relax which are the guaranteed activities on the caye, but DH will likely want to fish as well. I'm sure we could go out with a guide, but its also nice to toss a line out at your whim. Thanks

you can definitely fish from the shore or docks around tobacco caye. i dunno about bonefish---i tend to think not but there are jacks and snappers and plenty of baracudda from shore. folks catch & release tarpon out in the channel, not far from shore at all.

just fishing with a handline local style is pretty fun, whether from a canoe, kayak, skiff or off the dock; success just depends on your bait & other nebulous conditions that mysteriously affect fishin.
