Heard last night BTL will quietly call a public meeting before going to PUC to shut down all voip, satelittle dishes, instant messaging. My Vonage has been off since last Wednesday, it operates (sometimes) sporadically. Call PUC.

if anyone has info on this, i would LOVE to hear it. I can honestly say, without the internet connection, my decision to move there very well may be impacted.

Chris, Think its 54.0 Mbps via my wireless connection (to btl). I'll know more about BTL later today. Right now I only have good scuttlebutt. Stellar day for all kinds of scuttlebutt, including whats missing from the Belize City Council treasury, advances, bounced checks, loans, etc.

I think the fastest DSL link BTL has is 1Mbps.

In theory Vonage needs at least 90Kbps but in practice even if you have 10 times that speed you have to stop using any other Internet application while you're using the Vonage otherwise the signal becomes very garbled.
