excerpts from the Tropical Prediction Center)

TODAY’S WEATHER

Partly cloudy, dry and hot weather continues over the
North West Caribbean and Belize; and smoky skies cover
the Yucatan peninsula.

Ambergris Caye, San Pedro and Caye Caulker will
experience for the next 24 hrs:

Partly cloudy skies today and fair tonight.

The highest temperature will be near 90 degrees F
after midday. Today’s winds will be from the East to
East southeast at 5 to 15Kts.

The sea state will be slight to light chop. Seas will
be 3 to 4 feet beyond the reef.

The outlook is for partly cloudy and hot weather to
continue through Wednesday.

BEYOND 32N BETWEEN 75W AND ABOUT 105W. STRONG
SUBSIDENCE COVERS THE NW CARIBBEAN.

Central & Eastern Caribbean:

A MIDDLE/UPPER LEVEL TROUGH DOMINATES THE FLOW OVER
THIS AREA N OF ABOUT 18N WITH THE AXIS OF THE TROUGH
EXTENDING THROUGH 32N56W TO 25N64W TO 18N75W.

A JET EXTENDS FROM THE BASE OF THE TROUGH NEAR 15N75W
THROUGH 18N64W TO 25N45W.

ANTICYCLONIC FLOW COVERS THE DEEP TROPICS FROM NEAR
THE EQUATOR TO 18N BETWEEN 45W AND 65W.

SCATTERED SHOWERS AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS ARE LOCATED
ALONG THE TROUGH.

COLOMBIA...AS WELL AS OVER EL
SALVADOR IN CENTRAL AMERICA.

A DIFFLUENT PATTERN ALOFT IS ENHANCING THIS TSTM
ACTIVITY.

Central & Eastern Caribbean:

TRADEWINDS OF 15-20 KT DOMINATES THE CARIBBEAN.

WHILE A WEAK SHORTWAVE TROUGH HAS ITS AXIS ALONG
64-65W.

DRY UPPER AIR AND STRONG SUBSIDENCE COVERS A GOOD
PORTION OF THE BASIN...INCLUDING THE GREATER ANTILLES.


AN OLD SURFACE TROUGH EXTENDING FROM THE CENTRAL ATLC
TO OVER THE LEEWARD ISLANDS IS STILL GENERATING BROKEN
TO OVERCAST CLOUDS, SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED
TSTM OVER PUERTO RICO, THE VIRGIN ISLANDS AND THE
ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS...BUT ESPECIALLY ON THE
CARIBBEAN SIDE.

A SUBTROPICAL JET OVER THE W TROPICAL ATLC IS ALSO
PRODUCING SOME CLOUDINESS AND ISOLATED SHOWERS OVER
THE LESSER ANTILLES.

THE SURFACE TROUGH WILL GRADUALLY DISSIPATE THROUGH
WED.

Central & Eastern Caribbean:

MODERATE TO STRONG SUBSIDENCE COVERS CUBA...HISPANIOLA
AND JAMAICA AND A GOOD PORTION OF THE SEA...MAINLY
EAST OF 80W.
TYPICAL TRADE WIND SHOWERS ARE AROUND IN THE EASTERN
CARIBBEAN. THE SAN JUAN DOPPLER RADAR SHOWS SCATTERED
SHOWERS AND ISOLATED TSTMS ACROSS THE ISLANDS. OTHER
SHOWERS ARE SEEN CLOSE TO THE NORTHERN COAST OF
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. REMNANTS OF AN OLD FRONTAL
BOUNDARY CONTINUE TO BRING LOW LEVEL MOISTURE ACROSS
THE NE CARIBBEAN.

A WEAK SHORTWAVE TROUGH LIES OVER THE LESSER ANTILLES.


NO MAJOR CHANGE IS EXPECTED IN THE WEATHER PATTERN
ACROSS THE CARIBBEAN DURING THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

develop over the Yucatan peninsula.

Partly cloudy skies today and tonight and isolated
early morning showers.

The highest temperature will be near 88 degrees F
after midday. Today’s winds will be Easterly at 10 to
20Kts.

The sea state will be choppy. Seas will be 3 to 5
feet beyond the reef.

The outlook is for partly cloudy and hot weather with
a chance of isolated showers through Saturday.

A BROAD UPPER RIDGE COVERS THE W-CENTRAL CARIBBEAN.

CLUSTERS OF MODERATE TO ISOLATED STRONG CONVECTION ARE
OBSERVED CLOSE TO LAKE MARACAIBO AND ALONG THE COASTAL
PLAINS OF COLOMBIA.

THE GULF OF MEXICO REMAINS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF A
BROAD UPPER RIDGE EXTENDING FROM AN UPPER HIGH LOCATED
OVER THE GULF OF HONDURAS.


Central & Eastern Caribbean:

TRADEWINDS OF 10-15 KT DOMINATES THE BASIN.

AN UPPER TROUGH IN THE W AND CENTRAL ATLC DIPS S
ACROSS THE E CARIBBEAN N OF 11N E OF HISPANIOLA
INCLUDING THE LESSER ANTILLES. DRY UPPER AIR AND
STRONG SUBSIDENCE COVERS THE AREA E OF 80W.

BROKEN TO OVERCAST CLOUDS...NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND
SCATTRED TSTMS ARE AFFECTING THE EASTERN SECTOR OF
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC...PUERTO RICO AND THE NEAR SHORE
COASTAL WATERS AS WELL AS THE VIRGIN
ISLANDS...INCLUDING ALSO THE MONA PASSAGE.

REMNANTS OF AN OLD FRONTAL BOUNDARY ARE STILL BRINGING
ABUNDANT LOW LEVEL MOISTURE ACROSS THE NE CARIBBEAN.

A 1010 MB LOW PRESSURE CENTER IS DEVELOPING JUST NORTH
OF PUERTO RICO DURING THE NEXT 12-24 HOURS. THIS
COUPLED WITH AN UPPER TROUGH OVER THE AREA WILL KEEP
THE ATMOSPHERE VERY UNSTABLE WITH THE RISK OF LOCALLY
HEAVY RAIN AND FLASH FLOODING ACROSS THIS AREA TODAY.
