I wouldn't expect to get any e-mails from any government official in Belize, much less a minister. If you do get a reply, just consider it one of those occasional miracles that do happen from time to time.
There was a thread on this subject a few weeks ago in the Belize Forums. You might want to try to find that.
What I have been told by a number of U.S. physicians with an interest in Belize is that they have had little luck getting licensed in Belize -- most gave up after a year or two -- but Katie Valk I think it was said she knew of several who had been able to practice in Belize.
Certainly Belize needs more docs. Belize has less than one physician per 1,000 population, or about 205 practicing physicians for a population of near 280,000, less one-half the rate in the U.S. Belize has about 465 nurses, or one nurse per 580 population. Altogether there are perhaps 700 or 800 trained medical personnel in Belize. They are not distributed evenly around the country, however. More than one-half are in Belize City, which has only about one-fourth of the population. About three-fourths of trained medical people work in the public sector, and the rest in the private sector.
