Looking for a restaurant in Placencia equivalent to Portofino on Ambergris Caye for my brother's 50th birthday. Staying at Roberts Grove. Does such a thing exist? Going in two weeks. Thanks

Way out of date info but try finding out about Green Parrot Beach House's restaurant.

Our meal there was not for a man. If there is hunger in your group...re-think it.

We've stopped going there but I do recommend Maya Beach Bistro.

Food is perfectly presented and super smile

Not in the same league as Portofino but De Thatch is great. The shrimp burritos are awesome.

Try eating at the Turtle Inn. It is very close to Robert's Grove and the food is great.

Hey, try French Connection. Been open a couple of months.

Heard excellent reports about it. Although I haven't been there.

Turtle Inn is Francis Ford Coppola's place, so it is like a beautiful movie set. Open air restaurant is part of an amazing hotel and there is also an enjoyable but pricey bar on the beach. We loved it, but others have given mixed reviews on the food. Somehow I recall it being closer to town than to Roberts Grove, but it has been a couple of years and a few Belikins later, so check first if you decide to try it.

Lot's of great suggestions. Many thanks. See the Board can be about things other than petty bickering.

In and about Placencia, the only place that has the high-end tone of Portofino (your standard)is Turtle Inn.
You will not find a more beautiful setting.
Wine from Mr. Coppola's vineyards (in California) is excellent.
Reservations are important.
Also do not miss the gift shop at Turtle Inn - it's awesome.
If you are looking for gourmet snacks (to go), Kitty Fox has just opened a little shop called "Peckish" - on the main road, across from Professional Builder's Supply (next door to Saks/formerly Kitty's Place).
