AMBERGRIS CAYE, Belize—Tides change continuously as does business; so the El Pescador family would like to formally announce and introduce the new ownership of El Pescador South to the dynamic group and team known as Outpost International; a U.S. based company. Take note that this recent development does not include El Pescador on Ambergris Caye but only the Punta Gorda based El Pescador South. Ali Gentry Flota and her family will maintain ownership and management of the original El Pescador property on Ambergris Caye. Long time friend and partner Jim Scott will stay on and continue to manage the southern property with Outpost, who will be changing the name to Machaca Hill Lodge.

Machaca is certainly a local name in Southern Belize and an area on the Rio Grande where the lodge is located near Punta Gorda town. The river runs just below the lodge through lush tropical jungle, the hilly coastal terrain into the Caribbean and the port of Honduras Marine Reserve.

Numerous improvements are slated this year to enhance the facilities and amenities making it more comfortable for couples and families. Expect a new level of service and dining experience but activities will also grow with additions to sea kayaking, biking and a comprehensive trail system, fly fishing, snorkeling and diving. Natural history attractions will also be continued with visits to the caves, Maya archaeological parks, waterfalls and the enchanting Maya villages.

Outpost has also acquired the stunning Nicholas Caye on the southern barrier reef and the Sapodilla Marine Reserve. Development of a low impact safari style lodge will be constructed there to complement both properties with overnight and day trips on the five acre sandy coconut towered island. Outpost International has already been working with both the port of Honduras Marine Reserve and Sapodilla Marine Reserves at a grass roots level to develop their training of rangers and technical support for managers in the reserves.
