What are peoples fav shops in Belize city.

Does anyone find groceries are cheaper there?

What are the best things to look for there that are harder to find here?

I used to think Brodie's is but when I went in July I found only a few things to be cheaper and the rest to be the same as here. I know when I moved here everything was cheaper there. It is worth going there if you are in BZE already.

I've met people from Belize City who were here in San Pedro to shop.

We like Mirabs, not a grocery store but a nice department store.

Food and Beverage- If you like to buy in bulk, you will find lots of food items, coffee and laundry products. Great selection of Chinese foodstuffs

I am looking forward to checking out as I have been missing chinatown back in Canada be interesting to see if I can get a few of the same items.

Belize City doesn't have much for the average consumer. Now Miami and Houston are much better choices.

Brodies, Save-U, Food & Beverage Supply, Hofius, Augusto Quan, Simon Quan, Gonzalo Quinto all offer a good choice (put them all together and you have a wal*Mart)

I just went to Bottom Dollar about a week ago and found some good bargains there. Unlike the States, if you think you can find an item the first place you try, think again! It may require stopping at about 4 places. I generally try to amass a list of things I will need when I go over. Remember you are also paying for the plane or ferry, so factor that into the cost. Also a cab driver. When I go to the States, I do bring back a lot of small items, but anything large just isn't worth the hassle. If you are considering buying a t.v. for instance, get it here. By the time you deal with shipping and duty it just isn't worth saving $5.

yep! At least. When I make lasagna here I go to 5 different stores to get all the ingredients!

It not only costs me a lot of money but it is time costly too to purchase the items in it!

I'm too busy to organize it, but it would be great if we could do some bulk buying. Often when I go to Food and Beverage it is too much for two people but I diviy it up with four of my friends. If someone is up for organizing something like a co-op would be very interested. Even buying things like oranges is way cheaper. A huge bag of oranges is about 8BZ versus 5 for a $1.00 on the island.
