Is there a best location on the island to stay. Like, is there a better side to get away from flies, a better place to catch the sea breeze, is the foliage nicer north or south, etc., etc., etc. Just wondering if this info should figure into where we choose to stay...?

Hell YES!

The EAST side of the island - facing the Reef is the best side of the island because the trade winds usually come from the NE.

The more 'foliage' the properties have, the more the chances of mosquitos and other wildlife. Some people like this and even find the mosquitos a species they'd like to keep around... so choose simply for yourself.

The 'center of village life' is pretty much from Tropical Paradise to Rainbow Hotel, extending lately a little further north to the Split. Most nightlife activities / restuarants-bars are centered between the Sandbox and Sunset Disco (with Oceanside in between)....about a 1/2 mile strip; the center within the center.

Has anyone heard of the sunrise and beach side cabana's on Caye Caulker? we have rented them for 10 days around Chritmas, just wondering if anyone has heard anything about them. Thanks! Any other info about the island is welcome, it will be my first time there but surely not my last!
