What does the cheap accomodation market look like the next two weeks? I will arriving this week and will need cheap ($15-$25USD) accomidations for two for a week. Thursday to Thursday. Can I likely find a room or will I be left in the dark? Someone help me ease my worries. Thanks in advance. Randles

Try Lena's Guest House. It's at the top of your price range but well worth it. Comfortable, clean rooms; private bath; very safe; on the beach. Located roughly at the southern end of the business strip. The office is a few blocks from the hotel itself so you will have to ask for directions. There are other accomodations that are less expensive so don't worry about being left out in the cold (or warm).

If you don't have reservations, make sure you get to Caye Caulker as early in the day as possible, before noon preferably. The island has approx. 300 rooms, and if it is filled up, yes, you will be left out in the cold (or the sand) www.staycayecaulker.com is a booking agent for many hotels, I would have at least my first night's reservations taken care of. The island is quite busy now and will get even busier the closer you get to Easter.

Thanks for the replies! But, what if we are arriving this Thurs. late afternoon?? From all of the earlier posts, we thought we'd just head down without the reservations, as we have heard many places in our budget don't allow reservations. Are we destined for sand?

Randles:

If your budget is over $60 U.S. per night, e-mail me at [email protected] and I will try to find you a place.

Cheers,
Wendy A.
