Well, the Lobster Fest has come and gone. It is Sunday evening and the last of the revelers are packing up and heading home. The Lobster Fest was a great success. It was very well organized, and a lot of fun. Many, many people showed up from all over the country, which is a testament to the good advertising I would assume. The pageant was exciting and exhilirating, and Ms. Seleny Villanueva emerged as the winner. All the girls were lovely and talented and should be proud to have participated.
I am not sure how the dance went on Saturday night, and the canoe race I participated in earlier in the day knocked me out energywise. However, the stroll I took around the festival area earlier showed excellent participation and everyone having fun.
There were lobster dishes everywhere, especially grilled whole lobster. Strolling around the food stalls, and watching stall after stall after stall of whole lobster made me really hungry, but it also made the festival more special to display the rich harvest and the reason for the festival in the first place. It was a great idea to put these vendors near the street. They were definitely a lure.
I would like to commend the pageant organizers who I am sure worked very hard to pull this off.
AND, I look forward already to next year's festival...
Thank you, Chac (Mayan Rain God), for no rain this weekend...
Cheers,
Wendy
