Betito, could you please, please give us a hint as to when there could be electric on the north island. Please don't avoid answering, if you don't know please tell that us and then find out.
Thank you.

Your question as to when there is going to be electricity on the island is "ultimately up to B.E.L.". As a private sector organization it is totally up the thier discretion. Oh and one more thing. Please do not say I was avoiding your question! I often do not have time to check this message board.

Yours

BEL is private yes. But the GOB has major influence in that direction as they are the ones condoning the monopoly. How about trying to work out something in conjunction with BEL and the Village Council.

Priorities should be givin to issues like these. Basic needs versus luxuries. Simple.
Palapas & Beach Bar vs streets, power and water. I know which way I would vote if it ever would come to a public decision. Most villagers feel the same. So although GOB is spending a lot of $$$$, most of it is on wasted programs.

I went to BEL recently to ask if I could have a street light on a very dark road in town (not caye caulker) and I was told that I would need a letter from the area rep or the mayor for them to do it. Does not sound like seperation of state and private sector to me. I dare you - Give them a call - use your elected power to do something for the people.

The topic was Lobster Fest -- how did it revert to the north end of the island? Who made Betito responsible for electricity?

Let's enjoy the season and chill out. Sometimes what is 'ina yu face' is just that. Pass the lobstah and butta to enna.

Betito gave you an honest answer in order to help out. Bringing power to the north side is a considerable tech problem. There are not enough clients in the near term to profit from the big expense. Government does not make decisions over there at BEL. Did you know that BEL loses money in most villages because the price is fixed but the cost of production is higher in small scale operations?

To the electricity crew,
Go ask the man you put into office for a letter so that we can get electricity!

I would like to take this opportunity to invite all to the Lobster Festival Pageant on July 5 at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Rosado and the Teachers have done an awesome job of getting the candidates ready. A big thank you goes out to all the sponsors for this event.

Everyone is invited! Oh please pray that it does not rain, we really need good weather.

Well, the Lobster Fest has come and gone. It is Sunday evening and the last of the revelers are packing up and heading home. The Lobster Fest was a great success. It was very well organized, and a lot of fun. Many, many people showed up from all over the country, which is a testament to the good advertising I would assume. The pageant was exciting and exhilirating, and Ms. Seleny Villanueva emerged as the winner. All the girls were lovely and talented and should be proud to have participated.

I am not sure how the dance went on Saturday night, and the canoe race I participated in earlier in the day knocked me out energywise. However, the stroll I took around the festival area earlier showed excellent participation and everyone having fun.

There were lobster dishes everywhere, especially grilled whole lobster. Strolling around the food stalls, and watching stall after stall after stall of whole lobster made me really hungry, but it also made the festival more special to display the rich harvest and the reason for the festival in the first place. It was a great idea to put these vendors near the street. They were definitely a lure.

I would like to commend the pageant organizers who I am sure worked very hard to pull this off.

AND, I look forward already to next year's festival...

Thank you, Chac (Mayan Rain God), for no rain this weekend...

Cheers,
Wendy

Hey you all,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those people who made this year's Lobster Festival a success. A big thank you goes out to the sponsors Continental Airlines and Northern Fishermen Cooperative. Without you this year's festival could not have been a success. I think the Caye Caulker Business Association and the Veteran's pulled off an excellent job this year. Many thanks goes out to the business community on the island for their help (even if it was just feeding one band player). Your cooperative efforts did pay off big time. I think without Ralph Humes and Liz Ross we would not have been able to pull it off.

Thank you all for prayering that it would not rain. That goes for Chac too! I think this year's success have charged up the committee into planning next year's festival already set for the first weekend in July. We would like to get some more planning members on the committee as well.

Once again thank you all and we will see you all next year.

Betito
P.S. Hope there was no typos since I just got back from our evaluative meeting
