I need some info on the cheapest ways to do CC. I am thinking about travelling to Belize in May and I need to find a cheap-ish hotel for a week stay in CC. I am also trying to find out if it is a safe place to be for a woman travelling alone (I am a little nervous since I have never really travelled outside of the States and need to know if I need to try to drag one of my friends along). I would want to just relax and do a little bit of diving but may want to go out on a few nights for drinks. Since a lot of you seem like locals, any helpful tips or recommendations would be great!

Some of the cheapest places on on the island are Tina's Hostel, Tom's Hotel and Mira Mar Hotel. Being here in May will give you access to cheaper prices since we do not have a lot of visitors around at that time. You might want to bring a friend but Caye Caulker tends to be quite safe for a single female as compared to other parts of the world. Everybody pretty much everybody else here.

For diving you can trying Frenchies, Belize Diving Service and Forever Young Divers.

Another cheap but nice hotel is Sandy Lane. All of those mentioned are under US$15 a night. For your first time travelling you may find Caye Caulker nearly ideal. Local folks here are friendly and helpful.
You need not always use tanks to dive. Snorkling here is very good and can be cheap. Many people might suggest you try an older guy named Juni Saldivar. He has had a lot of happy clients.

You know its funny people ask for cheap accomadations on here for Caye Caulker...but other then 2 or 3 hotels..its all fairly cheap...I guess the question I would want to know whats the best value for the price you pay..??????

Computer owners on CC are also business owners. The suggestions you see here are often from the owner of the hotel or site. The cheapest places may be the best values but they have no computers. The most honest answers come to you when you leave a private email address.
